Gasland – a film by Josh Fox

The UK Government has given the green light to licence Shale Gas Extraction by Hydraulic Fracturing or FRACKING.
This documentary records what happened in parts of the USA when some of the same companies began tapping into the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. The Bush/Cheney Energy Bill created the Halliburton Loophole, which exempted drilling companies from the Clean Drinking Water Act and from declaring the chemical composition of the fracturing fluids. When film maker Josh Fox is asked to lease his land for drilling, he embarks upon an odyssey uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and water contamination.
In the UK we face the same risks - possibly even greater risks because of our geological structure.
Anyone who believes that minor earthquakes are the most worrying feature of this technology will think again after seeing this very disturbing look at some of the consequences of an uncontrolled drilling frenzy.
